      Head on over to Marieke Gouda every Wednesday through August for Book In The Barn. Kids have the chance to be read to on hay bales in the barn, and if you would like, see how cheese is made. Registration is at 11:30, cost is five dollars which includes a grilled cheese, applesauce, fries, and milk.

      Bringing the past into the present with pre-1840 fur trading-Civil War camps.       Jurassic Quest

      Saturday, Aug 27 and Sunday, Aug 28 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair Grounds experience the largest exhibition of lifesize, moving, museum-quality dinosaurs in North America! Jurassic Quest brings you a Dinosaur Adventure for the whole family. The main dinosaur exhibit features ultra-realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs; Over 50 life-size dinosaurs in all. Visitors can interact with these huge creatures, learn about them and even ride a few. It features realistic scenes, enormous dinosaurs, cute baby dinosaurs and lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. There are huge T-Rex and Triceratops fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover long hidden dinosaurs bones, the “Dino Bounce” area with several, towering, dinosaur theme inflatable mazes, face painting, Dino crafts and much more!

      We encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences about walking and biking to influence the outcome of the Metropolitan Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan by attending one of two public meetings, by visiting the plan webpage to learn more (wcwrpc.org/bikepedplan.html), and by participating in two online engagement opportunities.Open House: Monday, August 29, Chippewa Falls City Hall (30 W.       Leader-Telegram Buckshot Run for Special Olympics

      Join us for the 34th Annual Leader-Telegram Buckshot Run benefiting the local Special Olympics program.  This 2 mile run/walk in beautiful Carson Park is ranked one of the top 10 races in Wisconsin.  It s family friendly and tough enough for the hard-core competitors.  Ages 5-85 typically participate each year and average attendance for the Tuesday night race is 500 people.  Help us grow this year s event by inviting a family member or friend to join you! 100% of money raised from the race stays locally to help 1,000 Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities train and compete in sports year-round.  It s a life changing opportunity for these kids and adults. After the race, enjoy concessions, music, race results and an awards ceremony during the Party in the Park. Check in begins at 4:30 p.m. and the race begins at 6 p.m. with awards following at 7 p.m.

      Chippewa Falls Bernard F. Willi Municipal Pool

      June 4 through August 21, 2016 Chippewa Falls Bernard F. Willi Municipal Pool will be open. Located across from Irvine Park this public outdoor pool has a zero depth area with small fountains and dumping buckets for younger children and a deeper area, reaching a maximum depth of 5 feet, and a 256 ft. linear slide that empties into the pool. There is a minimal entrance fee per person to help maintain the pool. You will find it to be a great place to swim on a hot summer day. Hours: M-F 12-6, Sa/ Su 1-6pm 715-726-2733 in season.

      Irvine Park Petting Zoo

      Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day Weekend Daily 10am-6pm. The Petting Zoo has a variety of friendly farm animals including: pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, baby chicks, a pony, and an iguana. Kids are invited to explore the Petting Zoo and learn about the animals through touch and play. Admission to the petting zoo is free but donations are appreciated.Irvine Park summer hours will be 7:00am to dark. Irvine Park offers a variety of activities and sports for people of all ages. There are horseshoe pits, picnic grounds, hiking trails, playgrounds, bird watching, and a sand volleyball court.
