3rd Annual Fill Inn- Funds for the Fighters

Who/What: A fundraiser held from 5-8pm on Thurs, Oct 4th during Paint the Town Pink at the Fill Inn Station in partnership with Lodge #176 F.&A.M to raise money for a Chippewa Falls woman currently battling breast cancer. Where/When: Thursday, Oct 4th from 5-8pm @ The Fill Inn Station – raffles/silent auction/drink specials/Yeti Mugs!
      • Raffles/Silent Auction will be hosted by the Co-Sponsor the Chippewa Falls Lions Club – raffle baskets AND 50/50 raffles throughout the night!
      • 20oz Yeti mugs available for purchase for $30 – they will be filled once at no additional charge with your drink of choice! This promotion co-sponsored by Spring St Sports and Blue Ribbon Engraving. $5 from each sale will be donated! Supplies are limited.

Why: Not everyone wants to be a poster child for a benefit, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve or need some help. This is just a very small way you can use a great event to ease a bit of the burden for this disease. The community seems to agree as they raised over $5,600 in 2017 with your help!

If you feel inclined to donate an item for the silent auction/raffle, please mail it to address listed below or contact Kara for pick up. If donating money, please make check payable to the Chippewa Falls Lodge #176 F.&A.M. Tax ID number 39-0801026 to make your donation tax deductible. Backtrack Vocals: An A Cappella Powerhouse

7:30pm at the Heyde Center for the Arts- 3 S. High St, Chippewa Falls

Backtrack is an a cappella powerhouse that has amassed over 7 million views and 75 thousand subscribers on YouTube since its founding in 2013. This year, the group won the 2016 YouTube Next Up competition and was described by Business Insider as one of the “up-and-coming YouTube stars you should be watching right now.” However, nothing can compare to experiencing their live performance in the cozy setting of the Heyde Center. The hustle and bustle of their home base New York City matches the ensemble's energy, and just like New York, Andrew, Spencer, Melissa, Mallory and Jordan are a melting pot of cultures and heritages. This diversity is evident in Backtrack's sound, where each member brings forth his/her own special element. Their repertoire comes from the top popular music hits of today including The Weekend, Sia, and Ed Sheeran and popular music from legends of the past including Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

      Heyde Center from 4-6pm

Across the globe, the spoken word movement has reignited poetry as a force for artistic expression, critical dialogue, and community-building. As both a specific form (writing poetry that is meant to be shared aloud) and a deeper cultural practice (tracing its roots back millennia), spoken word creates space for all of us to tell our stories, make our values concrete, and speak up about the issues and ideas that matter to us.

This session mixes performance, dialogue, and some writing in order to explore why spoken word is currently resonating with so many. Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre is an MC, two-time National Poetry Slam champion, activist and educator. His work explores the relationships between identity, power, and resistance, and has been featured on Upworthy, Welcome to Night Vale, Everyday Feminism, MSNBC, the Huffington Post, and beyond. Garnering over ten million views online, Guante has also performed live at the United Nations, given a TedxTalk, and presented at countless colleges, universities, and conferences. Workshop registration cost $10.
