      MEMOIR WRITING: A Six Session Workshop at the Heyde Center for the Arts

      This is a six session workshop; every Saturday from September 28 - November 2. 

      This workshop is a must for anyone interested in writing, even beginners. The instructors will provide encouragement, guidance, and practice in “life writing” in the following genres: autobiographies, blogs, family histories, journals, memoirs, and personal essays. Discover the pleasure and rewards of lifelong writing for lifelong learners. All Supplies provided.

      Greg Gilbertson and Sue Orfield

      Two of the Chippewa Valley’s most accomplished instrumentalists are teaming up for a special night of music. Saxophonist Sue Orfield tours internationally and has shared the stage with greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Bobby McFerrin, among others. Recently, the Sue Orfield Band was voted Best Blues Band in Volume One’s 2018 Best of the Chippewa Valley Readers’ Poll. Greg Gilbertson is an award-winning guitarist and songwriter who’s album Surviving the Echoesrecently won Best Record Release in the same poll. Together, they put on an evening of music that is both homegrown and world-class, filled with improvisation and original music by each artist that has been specially arranged for this duo. This is a special evening that you won’t want to miss.

      Country Classics by the Becky Schlegel Band

      Country Classics features some of the greatest classic country hits from Loretta Lynn to George Jones and Merle Haggard to Emmylou Harris. The Becky Schlegel Band will take you on a musical journey as she performs the classics she grew up on. Stroll back in time as she brings the great country classics to Chippewa Falls for a special evening. Becky Schlegel has emerged at the forefront of the Upper Midwest’s bluegrass, country and acoustic rock scene. Raised in small town South Dakota, Becky has been making music for as long as she can remember. Her pure, sweet voice with its hint of country twang allows her to woo her listeners with a heartfelt ballad one minute, and rock their souls with rousing bluegrass the next.
